Positives and Negatives of the Reconstruction

In the map for the end of reconstruction it clearly shows that the popular votes were won by the Democrat Samuel J. Tilden but subsides a problem is that the electoral votes were won by the Republican Rutherford B. Hayes. This was a failure of the reconstruction because the states' government did not put in a law that is of which of the electoral votes or popular votes would be counted as the winners. There was also a failure in the states of Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina and Oregon because the votes were a shared because in the states existed both the democratic and republican parties. There is also a failure such as the Klan that which consisted of ancient confederates that would go and kill the republicans, black people and other people that may not agree with them. The poverty in the south still didn't change because there was a large portion of freed men and white men that remained poor and in the situation as before. The south's industrialization wasn't very successful for that purpose. There is also the fact that people still didn't think of black African Americans as the same as them but they thought of them as an inferior race.

The successes were that first of all the south and north got back together even if there was still enough tension between them. At the end there was the compromise of 1877 when the southern democrats agreed to give Hayes the presidency but in exchange he should remove the southern troops still present in the southern states. It also marked the end of the reconstruction. The southerners were free because the federal troops were gone and African American didn't risk anything because the thirteenth amendment has already gave them their freedom. Both Southerners and African Americans are winners and it is also important because they would be more free in the economic side. This was a great success because both parties were winners. There was also the come back of the southern economy and the increase and extension of an already present economy in the north. There was the Enforcement Act of 1870 which banned terror, force, bribery or other offensive actions to enforce the law. It was more pointed towards the KKK which was the most offensive thing right than. It was interesting that this law was made and I agree with it because it prevented from further murders and horrors present in that time of crisis. It also helped people air and not be scared. There were also the new amendments added to the constitution for further civil rights. This was a success but than later in history it wasn't the case and the difference between the whites and African Americans were different. That brought to them the civil rights act of 1964. Also there was success with the project of helping the freemen and their family to find new homes, jobs and reconstruct their lives in education. It is very important because after the war the freedmen were poor without any place to live and nothing to live on. The government like many of the present days governments helped them with their lives. Last but not least the southern states grew in their economy but also the education was enhanced to a system of mandatory education level which is very important because it change the education of the south and schools in the south that were basically based on military.
